#BMW IDRIVE7 CODE#
I hope this code can still serve and help others END OCTOBER 2022 EDIT That's beyond the scope of "free help" as I just don't have the time for it (as I've repeated). I will still offer help & guikdance freely but I just don't have the time to be spending 10+ hours with each person just getting them setup with arduino, going over wiring, then modding code etc. If you want to HIRE me at an agreed hourly figure to help you re-write the code to suit your needs then that's awesome, get in touch. If you're not buying the exact same iDrive I used, and the exact same hardware I used, I just don't have the time to babysit you through what to do, I'm sorry. I tested on a specific set of hardware that was what I needed at the time. So, whilst I can possibly help guide people in the right diretion, I'm not re-writing the entire code to meet someones needs because they've never touched the Arduino IDE before and are new to it. I do not have the time to reverse engineer / go can bus sniffing etc trying to figure out newer iDrives for a project that, as far as I am concerned, is finished for me. It doesn't work for many newer iDrive units, especially "silver" / ceramic ones. I have only tested this with 3 iDrive units.

I've recently had many people reaching out to me for help with their iDrive projects - this seems to be getting popular suddenly. You must also credit me and give links to this repo and facebook link if you share this code.Īs per the license, all modification must be made available openly.

It may sound like a lot to wrap your head around, but once you have familiarised yourself with the system, it is very easy to use and really does enhance the driving experience.

The 2 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, X3, X4, X5 and X6 models come with iDrive featuring Apple CarPlay, although one downside is that no BMW cars support Android’s alternative yet.Īnother advanced feature is the iDrive function that allows you to switch between cameras if you have a BMW model equipped with 360-degree vision, and also zoom in and out using the iDrive controls. Larger models ae already equipped with these features but they can be added to other BMWs for a reasonable sum. You can increase the size of the display, enable traffic updates on your sat nav, add a 12GB hard drive and even a second screen.
#BMW IDRIVE7 BLUETOOTH#
BMW iDrive FeaturesĪt a basic level, BMW iDrive offers a CD player, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, sat nav and voice recognition, but the upgraded system is where this infotainment system gets really special. You can even opt for an optional touchpad, which enables you to write using your fingers (of course, this is more of a benefit for the left-handed and ambidextrous). They are operated with a control dial and buttons on the centre console next to the gear stick. IDrive systems have a display screen located on the dashboard.
#BMW IDRIVE7 DRIVERS#
It was carefully designed by the manufacturer to give drivers full control over various settings in the vehicle, without the task of changing the settings becoming a distraction. In-car technology is becoming increasingly intelligent, and it doesn’t get smarter than BMW iDrive.Įxclusive to the German brand, iDrive is a highly advanced infotainment system which is now fitted as standard in all BMW cars.
